Terms of Use

These terms apply when you download or use the Transsera app. Please read them together with our Privacy Policy.

Agreement

Transsera (“the app”) is a specialized browser for accessing your Coursera courses on iPhone and iPad, with a built-in video player, subtitle translation and offline viewing. It is provided by an individual developer (“we”, “us”). By downloading or using the app you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.

You must be at least 16 years old, or use the app with the permission and supervision of a parent or guardian, and old enough to have a Coursera account under Coursera's rules.

Relationship with Coursera

Transsera is an independent browser app through which you access Coursera using your own account. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Coursera Inc. “Coursera” is a trademark of Coursera Inc. and is used only to describe what the app works with.

  • You need your own Coursera account. Your use of Coursera, including its courses, assignments and certificates, is governed by Coursera's Terms of Use, and you agree to follow them while using Transsera.
  • Your enrollments, grades, deadlines and certificates are managed by Coursera. We can't change them, recover lost Coursera data or resolve issues with your Coursera account.
  • The app depends on how the Coursera website and services work. If Coursera changes or restricts them, some features may stop working until we can update the app, or may not be restorable.

License to use the app

Your use of the app is governed by Apple's Standard End User License Agreement (Standard EULA). These Terms supplement that agreement with service-specific conditions and do not replace it. If there is a conflict concerning the app license, the Standard EULA prevails.

The Standard EULA sets out the app license, warranties, limitations of liability, and governing law and dispute resolution provisions, subject to mandatory law. Nothing in these Terms limits your mandatory consumer rights.

When using Transsera, you may not:

  • use the app to access accounts that aren't yours, or to share a Coursera session with others;
  • use the app in a way that breaks the law or the rights of others, or that harms Coursera's or our services.

Course content and downloads

Lectures, subtitles, slides and other course materials belong to Coursera and its partner institutions and instructors. Transsera only displays content that your Coursera account has access to.

Use offline viewing only where permitted by Coursera and the content owners, and only for your personal learning. Don't redistribute, publish or share downloaded content, and respect any limits set by Coursera or the content owners.

In-app purchases

  • Transsera is free to download. Some features, currently Subtitles Translation and Offline Mode, are unlocked with optional one-time, non-consumable in-app purchases. There are no subscriptions.
  • Purchases are billed by Apple to your Apple ID. Prices are shown in the app before you buy, and Apple's payment terms apply.
  • Purchases are tied to your Apple ID. Use Restore purchase on the Purchases screen to unlock them on another device or after reinstalling.
  • You can submit a refund request for an App Store purchase to Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. Apple's refund policies apply, without limiting your statutory consumer rights.
  • A purchase unlocks a feature of the app. It does not give you access to Coursera content you don't otherwise have, and it can't guarantee that Coursera will keep providing content in a form the feature can use.

Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

Translations

Translations are produced automatically by third-party services (Google Translate or Yandex Translate). They may be inaccurate or incomplete, and the list of available languages may change. Don't rely on them where accuracy is critical, for example in graded work, legal, medical or safety matters.

Third-party services

The app uses services provided by others, including Coursera, Google, Yandex and Apple. Their own terms and policies apply to your use of them. We do not control third-party services, their availability or their content.

Updates and availability

We may change features for compatibility, security, or changes to third-party services. Most features need an internet connection, and their availability may depend on iOS, Coursera and the translation providers.

Where reasonably possible, we will notify you in advance of changes that materially reduce a purchased feature. If a purchased feature becomes permanently unavailable, contact us for assistance, including with an Apple refund request where applicable. Your statutory consumer rights remain unaffected.

Apple's terms

The app is distributed through the App Store. The Standard EULA is an agreement between you and the developer of Transsera, not Apple. We are responsible for the app and its support; Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for it. Apple's App Store payment terms apply to purchases.

Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We'll post the new version on this page and update the date at the top. We will notify you of material changes before they take effect, where required by law. Changes will not retrospectively reduce rights arising from purchases already made.
